8 yr old paintbrush prodigy

8-year-old British prodigy stuns the art world. Buyers line up overnight for latest exhibition.

HOLT, England -- He's Britain's most talked-about young artist. His paintings fetch hefty sums and there's a long waiting list for new works.
It all has happened so quickly -- and Kieron Williamson fidgets a little when asked to share his thoughts on art.

"Cows are the easiest thing to paint," says Kieron, who has just turned 8. "You don't have to worry about doing so much detail." Horses, he says, are "a lot harder. You have to get their legs right, and you have to make their back legs much bigger than their front."

Paintbrush prodigy Kieron -- dubbed mini-Monet by the British press -- is a global sensation. All 33 of the pastels, watercolors and oil paintings in his latest exhibition sold, within half an hour, for the equivalent of $235,000.

Buyers from as far away as the U.S. lined up overnight outside the gallery, and there is a 3,000-strong waiting list for his impressionistic landscapes. "It has been overwhelming," said his mother, Michelle Williamson, a 37-year-old nutritional therapist. She and her 44-year-old art dealer husband live in a small apartment with Kieron and his 6-year-old sister, Billie-Jo.

Kieron was a normal, energetic little boy, and his parents were surprised when he asked for pencils and paper during a holiday in Cornwall two years ago. They were astonished when he produced an accomplished picture of boats in a harbor. He progressed rapidly to fully realized landscapes, many depicting the flat, open Norfolk countryside near their home. "We don't understand it," Michelle Williamson said. "We don't know where it comes from. But he's adamant it's what he wants to do. When your child has got such a gift and a talent, you have to support him."

spring fever

I'm have a touch of spring fever. We are buckling down here for a big storm in northern Ca. I wanted to get a picture of this brilliant colored purple iris before the hard rain hits. I hope you all are doing well. Please stop by and say hi!

Me and Lucy Bean

Meet "Lucy Bean". The newest member of my family. This sweet little Boston Terrier girl was born on 12/22/2009. I think that she must be planning on the next doggie Olympics cause she was sure working out at 3:45 am this morning.

I couldn't resist

the colors in this beautiful card sent to me by a beautiful person. I just had to frame it. Inside the card depicts the inspirational story of Sherida who began selling tomatoes in 1995 for her family's basic needs.

She received a small loan from an organization called FINCA that offered loans to women in her area. With that loan she was able to purchase spare bicycle parts, and seeds to expand her business. Now she is able to set aside some savings even after paying for schooling for her children.

Sometimes a little help can make a big difference.

In 2005 I painted birth flowers for each of my little ladies. For Riley, it was her rose. Now at 13 she is not so little but is as lovely as ever. Feeling a little sentimental, perhaps. Thankful, indeed.

great news

I have been selected to be a representing artist at "The Sandcastle Winery" in Bucks County, PA. They have purchased this painting and it will be on display on the top floor in the new art gallery named "Upstairs Gallery" sometime mid October. I feel quite honored as there are only five artist on display at present.

If you live near The Sandcastle Winery, you already know what a beautiful place this is with 15 miles of grape vines surrounding this historic Sandcastle Winery.

Once they get the "Upstairs Galley" up and running, I'll have inside pictures of the gallery with views of the other artist on display.

I'm back

Well, I've been out of commission from blogging for about a month now, with the move and all. It took me a while to get set up again. Now....I'm using broadband instead of dial-up and LOVING IT! It's super fast. No more falling asleep in-between page surfing. LOL. Can't wait to read my favorite blogs!

to twitter or not to twitter?

Is it worth our time to tweet? Well now, I've been on Twitter for some time now. I really can't say as of yet what the benefit is as far as a marketing tool goes. Looks like the main focus is to gain a lot of followers. Yes, there is a whole lot of tweeting going on, but actual "responding" to each others post very little. Everyone is too busy throwing words and links out there of their own and don't take the time to reach out to one another.

It appears to me to be only a virtual fix that gratifies the need for exposure.

If one has a twitter account for the sake of making new friends, well I think it's reasonable to say that it's possible. But as far as marketing tool....it's seems un-likely. Perhaps I'm wrong. In this case, I would love to be wrong...I hate to think that I have wasted my time when I could be more productive in other ways.
