Barkcloth, mohair couches, and minty cream shampoo. Growing up in the 50's no doubt has influenced my design sense today. OMG...I even remember when plastic cups came out, probably Tupperware. LOVED Melmac. Ok...still do. This book got my mind to thinking about all the cool stuff back then that is now today's trendy.

Koenig`s comprehensive title covers all aspects of the husband-and-wife duo`s illustrious career, from the earliest furniture experiments and molded plywood designs to the Case Study Houses to their work for Herman Miller and classic films like Powers of Ten."

In the back of "EAMES" you'll find a time line of accomplishments for both Charles Ormond Eames and Ray Kaiser. I highly recommend this book by Gloria Koenig for points of reference as well as really fun reading.

This is a mid century modern retro style painting that's reminiscent to the Eames era. The balance of design makes it possible for placement horizontally and vertically to hang in either direction. Colors are light & cobalt blues, pea green, cool and warm whites, undertones of purple and gold leaf foil.

The moment is now. Not yesterday or tomorrow. This is a minimal style painting with simplistic design, let strong in presence. Background colors are yellow and green in abstract form, with a single line of red in front.

I used professional grade acrylic paints and acrylic mediums for added textures to create my signature glazes and textures. Sides of the canvas are painted with the continuation of detail as well as textures. I use artist archival quality stretched canvas with staple-free edges, triple coats of gesso primed.
This painting will be available with two coats of varnish in the buyer’s choice of matte, satin or glossy. All paintings come with “A Certificate of Authenticity” for insurance purposes, plus signatures on both sides of canvas. Painting will be complete and ready to hang upon arrival to your home.

Anamorphic Mural

Two story Redwood tree mural by Kurt Wedgley

Project completed! Kurt's intention was to create a large Redwood tree on the corner of this two story building in 3D effects. Using cooler colors on the shadier side and warmer colors on the sunny side, he mathematically formulated perspective placement creating an illusion of a vanishing corner.

Wedgly has taken street painting to a whole new level.

This bay area artist has certainly brought a lot of attention to this neighborhood.

a yummy piece of chocolate

I’m drawn and inspired by the edgy works of artist Michael Kvium, Charles/Ray Eames, Alexander Calder, Joan Miro and Georgia O'Keeffe. Taste in art are different from person to person. For me, it's like eating a really yummy piece of chocolate, and these artist have left a lasting impression on my life. I always want to return to see more.

The Golden Labyrinth

The Golden Labyrinth 64” x 24” x 7/8 :: SOLD

The Golden Labyrinth is a three-part acrylic, modern abstract style with gold leaf foil (special varnish to protect from tarnishing). The balance of design displays both warm and cool color combination that makes an easy placement with most décor.

"Out of the blue" ~ 48" x 24" x 1.5"

I have some really fond memories as a young child of my Grandmother coming back from going fishing. I was around 4 years and pretty much the whole world was still brand new. There she was bringing home her prized catch of the day. Her treasures consist of several catfish and I watched in amazement as she turned these strange creatures loose in the bathtub. With eyes wide open, I remember standing there in fascination while they swam in their temporary new home. Hmmm…a cat that’s a fish?

My inspiration of these unusually creatures are their barbed like whiskers which they use as feelers to search for food. I couldn’t wait to paint them on my huge 48“x 24”x 1.5”canvas. I use professional grade acrylic paints and acrylic mediums for texture. Sides of the canvas are painted with the continuation of detail. The combination of deep blue glazing with gold paint provided a mood of light that some how makes its way underwater.

I'll be posting this magnificent, commissioned, undertaking as soon as it's finished.



Here are some sneak peeks and it is amazing. Makes my legs hurt just to think how many times he has had to go up and down that ladder.

Minimalism describes movements in various forms of art and design, especially visual art and music, where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features. As a specific movement in the arts it is identified with developments in post-World War II Western Art, most strongly with American visual arts in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Prominent artists associated with this movement include Donald Judd, Agnes Martin, Robert Morris, and Frank Stella. It is rooted in the reductive aspects of Modernism, and is often interpreted as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism and a bridge to Postmodern art practices.

The term has expanded to encompass a movement in music which features repetition and iteration, as in the compositions of Steve Reich, LaMonte Young, Philip Glass, John Adams, and Terry Riley. (See also Postminimalism).

The term "minimalist" is often applied colloquially to designate anything which is spare or stripped to its essentials. It has also been used to describe the plays of Samuel Beckett, the films of Robert Bresson, the stories of Raymond Carver, and even the automobile designs of Colin Chapman.

Rodin, The Complete Stanford Collection

Stanford, California - The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University announces the opening of its newly expanded Rodin galleries.

On February 18, 2009, the Center's entire collection of works in bronze, plaster, ceramic, stone, and wax by renowned French sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) reopens to the public and continues on view indefinitely. This is one of nine new exhibitions this year that focus on the Cantor Arts Center's rich and diverse collections. Need further information click here.
